LITTLE FALLS YOUTH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION 2017-2018 VOLUNTEER POLICY

LFYHA is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on volunteers. We are solely operated by volunteers, therefore the profits from the concession stand and home tournaments directly fund our hockey program. We greatly appreciate the many hours contributed by our hockey families during the season.  To make volunteer work more equitable for the entire association, the board has established a volunteer policy, which includes families working MANDATORY hours at the concession stand, at their player(s) home tournament, and hours in the general volunteer pool.

A volunteer deposit of $100 (ice mite), $200 (mite) and $400 (if oldest skater is a squirt or older) PER FAMILY is required and must be submitted at registration. A check made payable to LFYHA in the amount will be held as a deposit by the association. NO PLAYER will be allowed on the ice until this volunteer check is on file with the association. If your family completes the volunteer requirements, your deposit check will be shredded at the end of the season. Families with incomplete hours will have their volunteer deposit cashed on March 31st, 2018.

LFYHA implemented an online volunteer system in 2015 called DIBS. The hours have been configured with the best of our ability.  You can use DIBS to view available shifts, sign up (“claim”) and keep track of volunteer shifts. You must be registered for the current season to access the DIBS Volunteer system. More information on DIBS is available on the LFYHA website

The “Volunteer Year” will coincide with the hockey season.   You may donate your excess hours to another family if you wish.  There will be NO roll over hours from year to year.  ***Please note that families with 3 or more skaters within the LFYHA will have a maximum of 20 hours in each pool (concession stand and volunteer).

CONCESSION REQUIRED Hours: All concession stand volunteer hours must be worked by a parent or guardian of a LFYHA player. When you sign up for concession hours you are committed to working those hours. If you are unable to work a claimed shift, you must find a replacement 48 hours prior to the start, or you may contact the Concession Manager to hire an approved youth worker to fill your shift at a rate of $15.00/hour, which must be paid in advance to the Concessions Manager. All youth workers MUST be pre-approved by the Concession Manager.  If you are more than 10 minutes late on three separate occasions, your check will be cashed.  If you are a no show, your deposit check will be cashed the next business day.  In the event that a returned check occurs, your child will not be able to participate until the volunteer deposit is paid in full.  This policy ensures that the concession hours are covered and that you still receive your volunteer deposit back at the end of the season.

A Buy-Out Option is available for concession hours ONLY: Please contact the Concession Manager if you would like to hire a youth worker in advance to work your required hours. The buy-out rate is $15/hour. All concession hour buy-outs need to pre-arranged with the Concession Manager.  Note: This buy-out is ONLY for concession hours and does not include home tournament and general pool volunteer hours. If you buy-out of the concession stand volunteer hours, you must still complete the other required volunteer hours, or you will forfeit your volunteer deposit.
